  • Level 3 Sweater assignment

Sorry no pics of development work & I forgot to say it’s knitted in Cashmerino Aran so it feels lovely and soft but with a heavy drape.  Just out of interest the student calculated the cost of her time knitting – the yarn cost £98 ( ! ) and at min wage of £6.09 per…

  • Level 3 sweater assignment

This is a quite extraordinary sweater – the technical know how & calculation was brilliant – the photos don’t really give a clear view of how carefully thought out all the cable / face placements were so it all worked when sewn together.  A totally original piece of designing. • L3 M9 Inset sleeve sweater

The photos are hopelessly muddled up I’m afraid.  Probably best to look at the bottom ones first,  The sweater has really well integrated bust waist shaping. The yarn is ‘made’ by the student, by combining a number of yarn ends and making incremental changes in these to create the tonal graduation (which is smoother and…

  • L3 Sweater assignment (M9)

Inspired by things Cornish – the white cross on black on the sketchbook is the Cornish flag – including the Cornish pasty used for a crimped edging!  In Cornwall gansay sweaters are known as knitfrocks.  The sweater has short row shaping over the bust and this has been worked into the stitch patterning.  The yarn…
