Student work C&G Level 3 Interior Item

C&G say a hot water bottle cover isn’t appropriate as an Interior Item but in this case it was allowed because it was deemed a decorative item to be on show in a guest room (and match existing decor details / colour scheme) and not just a functional item. The student worked with a very open mind and in the process she moved her design ideas away from the strong decorative patterning of the Fairisle swatches being the main fabric and went for a more plain base with Fairisle patterned trim  The house is a converted Victorian railway station with many decorative features & the visual research / inspiration around these were incorporated into the artwork. More is more was the Victorian ethic.

The design includes functional aspects that are also decorative – a ‘pocket’ for hand-warming and a lace inset for access to the warmth as the hottie cools.  I like the very Victorian colour / style of woven ribbon used as backing to the Fairisle tie/hanging.

Unfortunately some of my photos were blurred so there are some missing

Design brief notes
The highly decorative interior that it has to work with
The house / situation
Arches were a good starting point
