C&G L3 cardigan

Bamboo mix yarn for a drapey hoodie jacket.  The buttons were made & colour-matched by the student.  The inspiration came from the client, who wanted a casual but well fitting hooded jacket with hand-warmer pockets that could be worn for sailing on the Norfolk Broads. Starting with boats, water & sky the first set of sampling concentrated on watery blues and stitches with movement.  Further discussion with the client and looking at the riverscape of the Broads moved this on to a more complex colour range (including a Kingfisher seen skimming the water).  The artwork came from using computer software to break up/abstract the inspiration images.  The chosen yarn was more suited to plain knit – and this was preferred by the client.  The cardigan was knitted top-down and all-in-one, with no seams. The hood shape is worked like a giant sock heel!  The client had specified ‘no pointy hood’.
