C&G L3 M12 Cardigan assignment

This student faced her knit demons (Intarsia technique) big time in this assignment.

Lots of yarn sampling before making final choices was key to the success of the overall knitted fabric. There are a number of different yarns, which gives extra contrast & interest.

Inspiration was striped images, which led to weeds flowing in water that gave curvy stripes.  I can’t find the photos, will add them when I do.

An immense amount of time & thought went into working out the front bands, making them run seamlessly into the main knitting by using Intarsia.  The refinement of little details (that the viewer won’t notice) is what helps, e.g. winding off particular areas of variegated yarn to match up the colour blocks of the ‘background’ colour (blue-green sock yarn).  The fronts & back were knitted in one to the armhole, with ‘faux side seams’ to give stability & a visual line. Sleeves have fully-fashioned seams.
