Student work Level 3 M8

I am often asked why I don’t comment on the work I post on the blog.  When I first started blogging I did but then I had students asking not to have their work shown on the blog, so I stopped.  I never said anything rude or critical but the comment factor was a worry to some.  I agree that it is useful to point out a few things now & again (just as would happen in a classroom), so here goes.

The samples are perfectly blocked, with everything lined up & well defined holes – important for lace/openwork so the stitch patterns show up.

Inspiration is used & linked to stitch patterns.

Good exploration of the design potential of slits & slots; ideas for using the knit samples are included.

Some charting is included.

Yarn types are suitable for openwork.

More sampling than is strictly necessary but that was the choice of the student.

Pages are well balanced with samples carefully positioned and clear labelling (a few extra things have been asked for in the assessment, such as abbrevs / symbols for the eyelets & faggoting slant directions).

Design Unit examples have been well thought through, with plenty of examples.

This work is to good standard.

A wide variety of yarn types has been used.6 47 48 51 73 82 92 101 110 112 122 132 142 152 172 182 191 202 210 212 222 232 242 252 262 272 282 292 302 310 312 321 332 341 361 371 381 391 401 411 421 431 441 451 461 471 511
