Quite a feat to knit (500+ sts per row), I don’t think I’d want to work buttonhole technique for a long while after this…. I can’t locate the design development photos (taken a while ago) but will add them later. It is knitted sideways & there is a narrower and denser centre section, where it wraps around the neck, and the ends ‘corrugate’ & flare out from this to show off the openwork.
